Your journey like no other begins with a leisurely, mid-morning departure from Darwin. Once you’re comfortably settled into your cabin, we make our way through the lush, green, tropical north and you make your way to the restaurant for a five-star lunch accompanied by a selection of fine wines.

An early afternoon arrival at the famous Top End township of Katherine and you have a choice of an afternoon filled with Off Train Excursions that take in the natural beauty of the Gorge, as well as its cultural and historic significance for Indigenous and early settlers. Back on board in the early evening and there is plenty of opportunity to share your experiences with fellow guests before, during and after a sumptuous dinner. Enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep and when you wake, you are greeted by a view of the spectacular Red Centre.

Alice Springs

Wake up to a new view outside your window, in a world which feels a million miles from home. A spectacular outback sunrise setting the tone for the day ahead.

After coffee and a sumptuous breakfast you'll arrive in Alice Springs ready for a day of exploration.

Here you have the opportunity to embark on one of the included Off Train Excursions, taking in the delights of this famous outback town. A full day in Alice Springs gives you ample opportunity to visit the town landmarks, get up close and personal with Australia's incredible flora and fauna or explore the Alice at your own leisure.

At this point you may choose to upgrade your excursion with the ultimate outback experience; an intimate scenic fixed wing flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

Manguri

Breakfast is served as we arrive into Manguri where we disembark and travel by air-conditioned coach to enjoy a full day of touring in and around the truly unique, underground opal mining township of Coober Pedy where more than half of the residents live underground.

Venture into the tunnels and caves of this underground
town, where you may even catch opal fever as you mine for riches, visit
the other worldly underground Serbian Orthodox church and take a glimpse
of Umoona Opal Mine.

Below the earth's surface, you'll enjoy a gourmet lunch in the most
unique of locations before setting off to the stunning outback moonscape
that is the Breakaways.

Dinner is served back on board with plenty of time to ease into a slower gear and prepare yourself for your final evening onboard The Ghan.

Adelaide

Looking out of your window this morning you'll notice a dramatic change in landscape as the rich ochre tones of the outback make way for the beautiful green fields and pastoral lands of South Australia.
